We have a long-standing tradition, the kiddo and I. What started as a reward for a week of good behavior has morphed into a special date that we both look forward to - a time when I put my work aside and just spend a little downtime listening all the funny, crazy things that go on in the life of a six-year old.
The carnival rolled into town this past weekend, signaling the official start of Autumn. My daughter waited all year for this - riding the Avalanche with every friend she meets, fingers sticky from cotton candy, giddy and sick at the same time.

A friend and I put together a little roadside lemonade stand last weekend with our kids. I have to admit, I just thought it would be a good way to keep them busy for a few hours and maybe I'd get a few cute pictures of the kids in action. I hadn't considered that it would also be a mini lesson in entrepreneurship. From setting up their product (and sampling it many times for quality), to handling money and customer service, it was a nice little intro to running a business and the kids were proud of what they accomplished.
